Due to anticipated low turnout, Spring break, and the need to reserve funds for 2013 Fall season ice time, we will likely just have one more practice session on Sunday, April 14th, from 9:00am-10:00am.

We just received word that the The Puget Sound Speedskating Club will host the 2013 Washington State Championship competition on Sunday, March 31, 2013, from 1:00 until 5:30 p.m. at the rink in Tacoma, WA.  Although it is a State Championship, this competition is open to all skaters.  Entry forms available for download here: 2013 State Champs Info (1) 2013 State Championships (2)

Along with updating the website, getting an account set up on PayPal has been on my “to do” list for quite some time. Still not 100% completed, but getting there. I just have to get the “donate” button on our website and Facebook page.  For now, here is a link where you can donate directly to our club – click here.

We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and can provide you with a receipt for your tax-deductible donation. Thanks for your support! We also welcome suggestions for fundraising ideas.  Today I received an email from the Whatcom Speedskating Club in Bellingham, Washington about the auction they are having to sell items to raise money for their club. Brilliant idea!

Sadly, our club hasn’t been able to afford to extend practice sessions through the summer months due to funding limitations and the cost of ice time.  As always, if you have ideas for fundraising, please send us an email.

Just received the email and entry form today for Tacoma’s annual competition.  The date will be Sunday, December 16 from 12:30pm – 5:30pm.  Cost to participate is $30 per skater, and you must be a member of U.S. Speedskating.  The rink is at

Now since we raised some funds, it’s time to take to the ice once again.  Our first session of the 2012 Fall season will be Sunday, October 7th, from 10:30am-11:30am.

Reminders:

Hey skaters, hope you are enjoying the summer so far! Looking forward to skating again with you this Fall. As you know, in order to afford ice time for our practice sessions, we need money in the bank. One of our favorite fundraising activities is to volunteer for the Providence Bridge Pedal on Sunday, August 12.

We have 4 crews this year:

1. Coning (placing prior to the ride, removing after the ride) along Macadam (covered!)

2. Coning along McLoughlin (need one more person)

3. Placing plywood on the southernmost lane of the Hawthorne Bridge on Saturday, August 11 (need 5 more)

4. Removing plywood from the Hawthorne Bridge on Sunday, August 12 following the ride. (need 5 more)

This is a much-needed fundraiser and earns our club quite a bit of cash. So if you are free and want to help, please email me!  I hope to hear from you soon.   Thanks for your help!
